Carruthers Shield
The very successful Tenby Bowling Club team, led by captain Dai Spencer, travel to the outer reaches of the Welsh principality to do battle with Presteigne BC, on the English border (probably a first for our club), in the third round of this inter-club knockout tournament tomorrow (Saturday). The players are displaying a strong air of confidence and calmness on the green, especially at the all-important end of the game. Good luck.
Anniversary Day
Winners of Tenby Bowling Club's ladies' section anniversary day last week were (from left): Win Howells, Mary Codd and Mary Richards, of Haverfordwest, seen here proudly holding the shield. The event took the form of a two-wood triples, with bowlers attending from Cardigan, Whitland, Neyland, Pembroke Dock, Saundersfoot, Pendine, Haverfordwest and, of course, the hosts Tenby.
Tenby hosts WWLBA county game
President of the West Wales Ladies Bowling Association, Audrey Owens hosted her first home county game on Sunday against Carmarthenshire.
After losing their first three games to South Wales and Mon, West Glamorgan and Mid Wales, the WWLBA team clinched their first win on the Sutton Street green winning on four out of the six rinks as they chalked up a 136-105 victory.
Top skip for the WWLBA on Sunday was Tenby's own Julia King-Thomas who was assisted by Viv Edwards (Saundersfoot) and Margaret Lewis and Jean Morgan (Pembroke Dock).
Hannah Thomas, of Whitland, was wished well by all the WWLBA members for this weekend's Junior Home International Series in Ireland. This will be Hannah's sixth year in the team and her first at playing skip. Good luck!
