A real corker
No this is not an intro to a joke, ask Stuart Askew! He has just completed a marathon, removing our ditch fill of thousands of corks, riddling out the weeds and earth, thereby reducing the volume, so we need topping up.
A special request to all wine drinkers, will you save your corks and extend their lives as ditch fill at the Tenby Bowling Club. You can hand in bags of corks to any member or hang them on the entrance gates. Several of our friends have been doing this for years now and we are most grateful - keep up the good work.
Bowling
season 2009
Tomorrow (Saturday) at 2 pm, we will see the 86th opening of the Tenby bowling green. Keen members can then literally start the bowls rolling after the long winter. There will be a light buffet in the bar/lounge accompanying the raffle of several donated prizes from generous members. If anyone wishes to bring a plate of whatever, please contact Lynn.
We have a very full season's bowling mapped out for us, both for ladies and gents. With both being league champions, we expect that the other Pembroke County clubs will be putting us to the test. The going could be tough.
Most members are looking forward to entertaining many bowling tourists who love playing on our high classed green.
Darts Report
Having lost 9-0 in the home game, it was with some trepidation that the bowlers travelled to the Castle in Manorbier.
But wins by JR and Phil gave them a chance after the singles, and a win in the first doubles by Phil and Mike brought them right back into the game.
However, despite some fine performances from JR and Ysie and Archie and Ashley, including a magnificent 126 from Archie, the bowlers finally lost the match 6-3.
The team now has a two-week break, the next game being against their arch rivals, the Sailing Club on April 17.
