It was lovely to see Vera Burrows and Margaret Harries gracing our tables once again, particularly Vera, who is slightly handicapped to say the least. She only comes for a giggle in good company.

Whist is held twice weekly at the bowling club, Thursday at 7 pm and Saturday at 2 pm. New members and visitors are always welcome.

Bonus ball winners

Wednesday, February 19 - Gladys Cleaton; Saturday, February 21 - Ann Preston.

Our green

Chris Jenkins has been applying oodles of TLC onto our famous bowling surface and is very pleased with its progress after the very testing winter.

We are recladding the inside wall of our banks, starting very soon. It has lasted remarkedly well for many years, especially with all the hammering it gets, 'drivers'.

It must have been very amusing in the early days of our club when a heavily driven bowl or jack actually got lodged in the grass banks!

Chairman, John Baggott will be looking for volunteers soon to remove the old cladding and fix the new.

Rugby acolytes

Tonight (Friday) sees the next round of the Six Nations rugby championship. The very exciting Wales game will be shown on our television, with viewing of the other matches also made available as usual over the weekend. Enjoy the spectacle in good company.

Darts Report

It would be fair to say the bowlers failed to sparkle in their cup match at the Swan Inn in Jameston last week. Despite some encouraging performances, they did not win a single leg. Special thanks to Chris, Jon and JR for providing transport and let's hope for a better showing tonight (Friday) against the Swan B team.
