New Management

Bert Barnikel starts his last year in office as club president, (maximum three years now).

New chairman John Baggott starts off on a very positive note, calling the first committee meeting fairly swiftly on Thursday, December 4, at 7 pm. He has already organised the first  fund-raiser coffee morning, tomorrow (Saturday) at  10 am. John looks forward to exchanging views with all of the members about what could be another very successful year in 2009.

David Spencer soldiers on as club secretary and captain of the Tenby team. Treasurer Ashley Hooper marches on as well, doing one of the most important jobs on management, looking after the pennies.

All membership fees remain the same for another year. Mike Gouldingay continues as fixture secretary. Mike is really with-it; he has already completed 99 per cent of next season's fixtures, including about 20 friendlies.

Lynn Delabertouche, once again, takes on the complicated tournament secretary's job and makes it look easy, and assistant secretary.

Simon Evans takes his first step onto the management ladder as vice-chairman - Simon is full of good ideas.

The Five Arches team has a new captain this coming season in Ken Lloyd, after a very close contest with the outgoing Mike Gouldingay. Mike, sportingly, was the first to congratulate Ken and wish him good luck in 2009.

Club captain Tony Brown goes around once again, having learnt quite a lot in 2008.

On the ladies' front, that very successful duo, Lynn and Audrey, hope to repeat the Tenby/Arches ladies champions of the Pembroke Ladies Two-Rink League, as captain and vice-captain.

All these posts were decided at last week's well-attended annual general meeting, when all the posts on the committee were also filled.

On a higher plain, Audrey Owens is number one I/C of the West Wales Ladies Bowling Association, having reached the dizzy heights of president. Everyone wished her good luck in 2009.

Julia King Thomas completes a very happy and successful year early next month as president of the Welsh Women's Bowling  Association. Julia travelled many miles, including a trip to New Zealand, as president of Wales and a fine ambassador she proved to be. She certainly put Tenby on the bowling map for the Welsh women.

Busy Bees

John Baggott and Tony Brown are both men of action, proof being the decorating of the bar/lounge is well on the way already.

Any member who feels that they can help out during the refurbishing of the club will be very welcome.

Lynn, the foreman, has got the bar area sparkling like new!

Darts

The bowlers were defeated 6-3 at home against the Jeff A on Friday night.

There were singles wins for Ashley Hooper and John Roberts (who had a 21-dart finish), while in the pairs there was success when JR teamed up with Ysie White. JR also won his Masters game. Other members of the team were Archie Rafferty, Mike Gouldingay, Brian Spencer and Tony Brown.
