Party time

The victorious Tenby/Five Arches ladies team, led by captain Lynn Delabertouche and vice-captain Audrey Owens are hosting an end of season party on Thursday, November 6, commencing at 7 pm.

Celebrating the winning of the Pembroke Ladies League, is no mean feat.

As usual, players from all of the other clubs are invited.

Rene Silcox is laying on a little entertainment, which is her forte, to ensure the party goes with a swing.

These nights have the reputation of being delicately wild!

Love of the game

It is amazing what our members will do to enable them to continue playing the game they love.

Tony Powling has been under the cosh, unjustly reaping the reward of many hard rugby  tackles. The ensuing arthritis in his left shoulder (his bowling arm) meant a cessation of bowling or change hands.

We all admired his tenacity this past season, learning how to bowl with his other hand, to such an extent, Tony ended up playing regularly for the Five Arches team and in many friendly matches, entertaining the visiting tourists.

I take great delight in reporting that Tony has now had a replacement shoulder fitted and is enthusiastically looking forward to normal bowling in 2009. His wife Diane is lavishing large helpings of TLC, a very important ingredient in the recovery process.

Tony's brother Roy, after his new hip op, now sports a military cadence as he confidently strides around Tenby. Roy is also looking forward to the new bowling season.

Ray Holly has been in for beauty treatment, but that was only to keep his good looks, his bowling arm is ok.

While I am on the subject, I must not forget past president Lewis Hilling who successfully survived operations for two new knees and is still enjoying his bowling.
