RARE occasion
Tenby bowlers play so many 'friendly' matches against umpteen touring parties each season, they rarely have a chance to play away themselves. But 2008 is the exception. Our regular visitors from New Quay BC have invited us to visit them at the end of this season. Transport has been arranged for Sunday, September 21, all we want is a mixed team of jolly bowlers and friends to join in what should be a great day out, in good company. Names on the list as soon as possible please.

Carruthers Shield
Tomorrow (Saturday) sees Tenby take on Morriston United BC in this very important third round of the Welsh inter-club national tournament. We wait and see if the home advantage helps our cause. Certainly, vociferous support from our fans will push us in the right direction. Good Luck Tenby.

Five arches 124 (14 pts) Pem dock pater 38 (0)
This game was played in two halves, the first game being abandoned after 12 ends because of the weather. The second half was played on July 4, although it seems that The Borderers have already won the group. All the best to them in the final.
division two
neyland 87 (10 pts) Five arches 71 (4)
Last Saturday, Five Arches travelled to Neyland, knowing they were always going to be a difficult team to beat on their own ground. And that is exactly how it turned out, with the Arches coming away with just four points. As captain John Roberts Snr said before the game, they were out to get their own back after being defeated earlier in the season. After the game, captain Mike said that on the day the best team had won and he wished them all the best for the rest of the season. Mike also congratulated the Five Arches Ladies who won their match. Rink six saw Stuart Askew and Neil Hensman up front, with Graham Hill and John Moffat in support. This rink performed very well and at the interval were five shots up, going on to stretch their lead to 11 shots in the second half and also winning the sweep - again. Rink four saw Ron Hurlow and Jonathan Hubbard up front, with Mike Gouldingay and Alex Watt in support. Although the Arches got off to a wonderful start, it was soon cut short by a Neyland comeback and at the interval the Arches were just one shot up. In the second half, it was a very close game, with the lead changing all the time, but Five Arches managed to hang on to a one shot lead thanks to Alex, who played some magnificent shots. Rink five saw Jim Taylor and Adam Hensman up front, with the usual Ashley Hooper and Ray Holly in support. This was a very close game in the first half, with the Arches being just two shots down, but in the second half, Neyland put on the pressure to eventually take the game by a margin of 11. Rink three saw Ken Lloyd and young Luke Rees up front, with Gwyn Beynon and Tony Brown in support. This was also a very close fought battle in the first half, with the Five Arches being only three shots down at the interval, but once again Neyland put on the pressure after the interval to go on and win by 17. Rink scores (Five Arches first, Neyland skips only) were: K. Lloyd, L. Rees, G. Beynon, T. Brown 13; D. Evans 30. R. Hurlow, J. Hubbard, M. Gouldingay, A. Watt 22; B. McKay 21. J. Taylor, A. Hensman, A. Hooper, R. Holly 15; A. King 26. S. Askew, N. Hensman, G. Hill, J. Moffat 21; B. Barrett 10.
