Bonus Ball
That man did it again. Yes 'Simo' was again the lucky recipient of Saturday's draw. And, although his beloved Cardiff City only managed a draw at the weekend, he was still wreathed in smiles on the Sunday. Wednesday's winner was Reggie Thake, who can be found 'tearing' around the town on his 'scooter'. Name Change
The hugely popular Texaco Tournament, held in September, is now undergoing a name change, to the Texaco Chevron Tournament, due to some high falutin business 'link up' with the oil giants. Maybe some of our more affluent members have invested heavily in this name change, moving their shares around on the market, seeking some advice from Ashley Hooper. I thought I saw him in deep conversation with Pat Currie and Paul Diment the other day! What a right old 'Charley'
Last Sunday, the marketing manager from Stena Line, Fishguard, Carl Milne, came to the club to present the Five Arches squad with their annual cheque and to receive a framed photo of the said squad from this year's captain Dai Robb. The said captain was going to pick up his 'mate', who had the photo. Minutes before the rendezvous, an anxious mobile phone message revealed he had got lost! After crossing the busy motorway, four roundabouts, two zebra crossings, one underpass and a flyover, he eventually arrived at the said house. His 'mate', on entering the car, was greeted by a 'blasting' Mae Haen Flad fy Nhadau; he being Scottish and we playing awful the day before at Murrayfield. Get the 'drift'? When the time came for the photo, his 'mate' suddenly realised he had left the said photo at home! It was now developing into a 'Keystone Cops' scenario. "No worry," said one bright 'spark', "we'll will use one of the photos hanging in the club." Lynne Deli, who printed the photo straightaway, has a 'top of the range printer' and the print-out revealed the 'fake photo' in all the minutest detail. Since when have Peter Day, Andrew Muskett, Paul Diment and Pat Currie played for the Arches!

Due to the resignation of the county manager, Dave Jones, Haverfordwest, through ill health, there is now a vacancy for the said post. The criteria is that the applicant must have played for the county at least five times and will be a non- playing member of the team. Applications are also invited for three 'assistants'. These will view the games and make recommendations to the manager, but will not be part of the selection of the team. Anyone interested, please contact Jonathan Webb or Andrew Muskett, the two county representatives for the club, before Tuesday - the date of the next county meeting. Sven, don't even think about applying!
Whist results
Current 'whist' organiser, Pauline, accompanied by Mair Marquiss and Bert were on a mid- winter bowling tour in sunny Torquay, but there were still three full tables having fun under the eagle eye of Gladys Irvine, who graciously took up the reins to keep the kettle boiling. Gurney; 1st lady - Mabel Whitaker; 2nd - Mary Renowden; 1st gent - Vera Burrows; 2nd - Bill Whitake; first half winner - Muriel Griffiths; second half - Joyce Waters; longest sitter - Ginnie Beeken; raffle winners - Joyce Waters and Mary Renowden. Tenby Bowling Club whist drives are held twice weekly, 7.15 pm on Thursday and 2 pm on Saturday. Visitors and new members are always welcome. Our Lizzie
Another one of our great group of youngsters, Liz Goldwait, is in action tomorrow (Saturday) playing in the Under 16s Welsh triples. Along with team- mates Ryan Thomas and Liam Price, she is playing on her home 'turf' at Heatherton IBC at 9.30 am. The opposition is pretty tough mind - the same three Welsh internationals who accounted for Liz's team-mates, Ysie, Dana and Joe a few weeks back. All the more incentive to win! Needless to say, we wish all three the best of luck.
