Maintenance Gang

These hardy souls meet for the first time on Monday, January 29, at 10 am. Only for a couple of hours, nothing too arduous, so why not join them. If you do not want to work, then you can make the tea!

Torquay Tour

There are still four spaces for anyone interested in a bowls tour to Torquay, organised by Barry and Rhiannon Webb, of Haverfordwest. Departure date is February 4, returning on Friday, February 9. This is the last tour that the Webbs are running; apparently they are always enjoyed by the members. For further details, 'phone Haverfordwest, 01437 767167 Apologies

Over the last two weeks, the copy to Bowlers Corner has been rather sparse, to say the least. No, it was not post-Christmas blues, nor suffering from 'crashing the plastic card', nor enduring the obligatory diet and abstention from all things alchohol'; it was due to maggots. Do not laugh, it is true. To find out more, contact the secretary with a stamp addressed reply envelope, and he will reveal all! Fees

If you are feeling 'flush' after the festive season, fees are now due. Thanks to the magnificent efforts of the treasurer, committee and members, these are the same as last year. That must be incentive enough to pay early! New TV

As promised some time ago, the club is now purchasing the new large TV. This will be a 40-inch set, replacing the old one, which has graced the bar for a few years. All will be in place for the start of the Six Nations rugby in February. Next week we will give our ex-rugby players' thoughts on the coming season with regards to how God's Chosen Country will get on. That should make compelling reading anyway! Bonus Ball

Wednesday was a 'roll over', which next week will make someone a 'happy bunny', whilst the Saturday draw was won by the 'people's favourite', that well known Liverpool supporter, yes, you have guessed it, Pat Currie! Whist

Junior Section

Joe Richards and Ysie White were up bright and early last weekend as they were in the quarter- finals of the Under 16s Welsh pairs competition. It was their unfortunate luck to be drawn against two Welsh Under 25 internationals, and although they gave their all, the experience of the two older lads proved too much in the end. Beaten, but certainly not disgraced, they now found themselves in the Plate competition, so it was another early start for our indomitable duo. Ysie played a magnificent game with her drawing ability, while Joe backed her up all the way, but again our youngsters were to be denied. This was a wonderful achievement, as it is Joe's first year on the indoor circuit, while Ysie has only taken the game up in the last year.

They will now be joined by Dana Rogers in the triples competition, which takes place this weekend. Needless to say we wish them all good fortune.
