Tenby 103 shots Gloucester Spa 81 Played in continuous rain, the conditions certainly did not affect the home side, who romped home by over 20 shots. With wise-cracking Lewis Hilling in your rink, he made sure everyone forgot the rain, but Pauline Barnikel and the rest of the foursome slipped to a 12-shot loss. The weather did not stop Vera Williams skipping an all-male rink to a nine-shot win, with Brian Winstone enjoying his return to the bowls circuit. Despite dropping a count of six and a four, Mike and his crew held the upper hand when it mattered. Ginny Beeken starred in the second half and Margaret Skyrme, playing her first game at third, settled in well. The foursome came home by 14 shots. Gwyn Beynon and Ted Brutnell are certainly gelling well at the 'back end' and helped their rink to a 10- shot victory. You knew Alison Redman was on the green by all the laughter and merriment emanating from rink one, as they recorded a three-shot win. These visitors from across the Bridge really like the area, as this was their second visit in as many years. Rink scores (Tenby first, visiting skips only): C. Roberts, P. Jones, T. Brutnell, G. Beynon 26; D. Taylor 16. G. Beeken, J. Hubbard, M. Skyrme, M. Crockford 31; H. Williams 17. J. Taylor, B. Winstone, G. Hill, V. Williams 19; T. Edwards 10. V. Roberts, H. Meades, L. Hilling, P. Barnikel 11; J. Nash 23. R. Thake, G. Brutnell, J. Moffett, A. Redman 18; R. Fry 15.

Barge Lovers Loving everything about the sea and boats, I always on a Wednesday watch a programme called 'Water World', narrated by the well known actor, Timothy West. It's about his love of the canal system and the long boats that use it. I was flabbergasted when who should be on the screen, but none other than 'Hoops', alias Peter Hooper, described as the chief engineer, with wife Betty as the galley slave; also on board were daughters Rebecca and Tania and her husband Chris. They were flying the draig coch, the red dragon, from the stern - that is the back of the boat, Rene Silcox, another canal enthusiast. When I quizzed 'Hoops' about the programme, he said it had been made three years ago - that accounts for him looking positively young!

Bonus Ball

The two lucky winners this week were 'Simo' and Mike. Everyone agreed they were very well deserved! Lockers

The following lockers are locked and no one seems to know who owns them. Due to a surge in membership this season, Lynne would like to allocate them to new members. If anyone knows whose they are, will you let her know as soon as possible. The lockers are numbers 35, 46, 54, 61, 65. Corals Tournament

Tenby 111 Fishguard 60

This was a Carruthers Shield fixture and Fishguard were the visiting opponents. The Coastal Cottages sponsored Tenby team were determined to make amends for their previous week's disappointing defeat against Pembroke Dock. With a few players absent, captain Andrew and his selectors were forced to do a bit of reshuffling within the team. Rink one consisted of Ron Hurlow, Bert Barnikel, Mike Crockford and Peter Day. Peter and his men rushed into an early lead and never looked back, resulting in an impressive 11-shot victory. Pat Currie and his rink were involved in a much closer game. Pat, ably assisted by Reg Thake, Ashley Hooper and Gwyn Beynon, were never in front until the 16th end. The rink held their nerve to just edge out the Fishguard foursome by two shots. Top rink of the day was captain Andrew Muskett and his rink of Stuart Askew, Gerald Hewitt and Dai Spencer. Always in command, this impressive performance saw Andrew's men complete a resounding 22-shot win. Neil Dickinson, Lee Richards, Terry Preston and skip Jon Webb were also on top form. Jon, enjoying his new role as skip, steered his rink to 16-shot victory. So Tenby recorded their first win of the season with a well-earned 51-shot victory. With Saundersfoot still to come in the final game of the Carruthers, captain Andrew and his team still have a mountain to climb to qualify for the latter stages. Rink scores (Tenby first, Fishguard skips only): Stuart Askew, Gerald Hewitt, Dai Spencer, Andrew Muskett 34; G. Shaw 12. Ron Hurlow, Bert Barnikel, Mike Crockford, Peter Day 24; D. Hughes 13. Neil Dickinson, Lee Richards, Terry Preston, Jon Webb 29; T. Evans 13. Reg Thake, Ashley Hooper, Gwyn Beynon, Pat Currie 24; R. Thomas 22.

Tenby 76 (4 pts.) Haverfordwest 83 (10)

On Saturday, the Coastal Cottages sponsored Tenby team were in league action hosting title hopefuls Haverfordwest. This would be no walk in the park like the previous week's outing. Again, a few changes had to be made due to other commitments. Rink one consisted of Stuart Askew, Ashley Hooper, John Moffat and skip Pat Currie. Pat's middle name is consistency and again he and his men ground out a fine nine-shot win to help the Tenby cause. Captain Andrew Muskett, Gerald Hewitt, Peter Hooper and Dai Spencer were never in touch in their game. Haverfordwest skip Craig Jones was in fine form and Andrew and his rink had no answer to the barrage of shots. The rink finally went down to a disappointing 16-shot defeat. Neil Dickinson, Bert Barnikel, Terry Preston and skip Peter Day were involved in a tight tussle in their match. With the score 19-all going into the last end, Peter rallied his men to produce a narrow two- shot victory. Mike Crockford and his rink of Roy Kennion, Lee Richards and Gwyn Beynon seemed to have their match in the bag early on. Racing into a 12-4 lead at tea, the Tenby boys were on fire, but the Haverfordwest men dug in at the end, picking up 13 shots in five ends to steal the match by three shots. Another disappointing result for Tenby, losing by seven shots overall, which means they are still looking for their first league win. Captain Andrew remained upbeat after the game, but Tenby need to be a little more consistent in future, especially during the last five ends. Tomorrow (Saturday), Tenby are back in Carruthers action against arch rivals Saundersfoot, with a 2.30 pm start. Rink scores (Tenby first, Haverfordwest skips only): Gerald Hewitt, Peter Hooper, Dai Spencer, Andrew Muskett 11; C. Jones 27. Neil Dickinson, Bert Barnikel, Terry Preston, Peter Day 22; A. John 19. Roy Kennion, Lee Richards, Gwyn Beynon, Mike Crockford 18; J. Dockerty 21. Stuart Askew, Ashley Hooper, John Moffat, Pat Currie 25; P.D.S. Jenkins 16.
