CLUB FINALS
Saturday dawned fine and clear, and the first day of Finals Day produced some great bowling to suit the weather.
In the afternoon, the ladies were celebrating Eric and Joan Dorling's wedding anniversary, as they sipped their chilled white wine in the glorious sunshine.
For young Craig Guymer it was a special occasion as he won the Club Championship, following brother Luke who won it last year. Craig and Pat Currie produced some scintillating bowls, worthy of the final, with Craig just edging it by one shot. We wondered who was the most excited, Craig or mum and dad, Pat and Peter.
Sunday produced some showers, but still the bowling was of a high standard, and the most popular winner was Johnathan Hubbard, who received a standing ovation when he collected his trophy.
Chairman Dave King Thomas thanked Dai Spencer who ran the event in his usual calm and efficient way. The cups and trophies were presented by club captain, Mike Crockford.

TEXACO TROPHY
This weekend sees the ever-popular Texaco Trophy three-wood pairs take place. Except for a few friendlies, this is the last major tournament of a hectic season. The event attracts bowlers from all over West Wales, with current internationals and ex-internationals competing. Not forgetting our local bowlers. The event is run on a 'round robin' basis over six ends in the first instance, so it really is a lottery and everyone is in with a fair chance of progressing to the later knock-out stages.
WELCOME RETURN
Over the last weekend we welcomed back two members who have been laid low, requiring hospital treatment.
We knew Bert Barnikel was back when he asked 'why the score was not up on one game!' You can't keep a good 'un down!
Alun Redman was home on weekend leave and taking it quietly, but typical of Alun, he told Alison he would work in the garden before coming up to the club for the presentations!
What can you do with the pair of them? Whist
Three tables were in play last Thursday and results were as follows: top score - Gladys Cleaton; 1st lady - Gerry Meaney; 2nd lady - Gladys Irvine; 1st gent - Elsie Breadnam; 2nd gent - Robert Irvine; 1st half winner - Margaret Harries; 2nd half winner - Ray Cullimore; longest sitter - Muriel Griffiths; raffle winners - Elsie Breadnam and Gwenith James.
