CHAIRMAN'S CHRISTMAS MESSAGE
May I take this opportunity to wish all members, both playing and social, a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year (writes Jonathan Webb).
The Five Arches team fared well, beating both Tenby (14-0) and Saundersfoot twice in a season that left captain Mike Crockford rueing missed opportunities and missing some key players early on.
Goscar also had a successful season and must be congratulated for their willingness to blood new young players.
Both the Tenby and Five Arches Ladies enjoyed bowling in the Pembrokeshire League, won this year by Saundersfoot.
Furthermore, there were international honours, with Pat Currie and Paul Diment representing Wales in the British Isles pairs and Ceris Hewlings and Janine Bancroft representing Wales at U25 level.
There were county honours, with Mal Bishop, Paul Diment, Terry Preston and Dai Spencer winning the county rinks; in the ladies section, Julia King Thomas won the county singles, narrowly defeating Ceris Hewlings, and then combined to win the county pairs.
Congratulations to all.
Finally, I would like to inform all members that the Christmas draw is taking place tomorrow (Saturday) evening commencing at 7 pm. There is also a fancy-dress night on New Year's Eve. All are welcome.
Also, we will be holding the first of our winter quizzes on Monday, December 29, at 7.30 pm, when we hope to see all of our quiz regulars for the first of this season's events which will hopefully break-up the lull between Christmas and New Year's Eve.
Nadolig Llawen a Blwyddyn Newydd Dda.
