TEXACO TROPHY 2002
Rapidly approaching, the popular Texaco Open Three Wood Pairs happens again next weekend, September 7 and 8. This annual beano of bowling has been over-subscribed since February when the entry forms were launched. The testing round-robin format is a great leveller, generating the usual crop of upsets and famous victories, a chance for the ordinary club bowlers to do battle with some of the finest bowlers. All are excellent company and good sports.

The weather was kind for Finals Day and happily the organisation went smoothly.
Four ladies cups are still to be played for, however; also one men's cup. This was due to the unavoidable absence of contenders. These matches should be played during coming weeks and results will be published later.

YORKSHIRE CUP
It is with very sincere regret that we found it necessary to cancel the above competition. The reason is fairly obvious. There was insufficient support from the membership and it was impossible to find a satisfactory format with only seven pairs.
The sponsorship prize money will be returned to Yorkshire Building Society who have already been informed of the cancellation.
Further annual continuation of this cup will have to be discussed seriously at a later date.
TENBY 53
LONDON WELSH 58
(abandoned after 10 ends)
At half-time it started to drizzle, then rain, then hail, then a deluge, as the green slowly started to dissappear under water, followed by the jacks and woods, and then the corks in the ditches started to float away. Yes, this was August, when a flash flood hit the town.
The game was abandoned at half-time, yet miraculously the green was playable in the early evening. Our visitors were the exiles from the 'Big Smoke'. They presented the club with a magnificent slate clock and were regular visitors to the clubhouse all through the week.
It would have been interesting to see the final result as the home side had four rinks in very close contests at half-time, before the deluge.
Rink scores (Tenby first, visiting skips only):
B. Russell, S. Carswell, R. Thake, B. Bailey 9; D. Thomas 11.
J. Hubbard, H. Meads, B. Best, A. Grimbaldeston 5; P. O'Docherty 15.
G. Hughes, K. Lloyd, D. Hodson, M. Crockford 8; E. Parry 9.
T. Brutnell, E. Dorling, T. Powling, G. Beynon 13; L. Davies 6.
J. Richards, D. Watkins, G. Hill, D. King Thomas 8; D. Mahoney 7.
J. Richards, S. Diment, L. Richards, M. Donoghue 10; P. Toyman 10.
