PENDINE v TENBY
On rink two, where Paul Mearns dropped down to lead and Alan Redman came back into second for the missing 'Gunga -Din', they had a very close tussle with Roger Gosnold until tea, after which the rink streaked away and dropped only two singles in the last 10 ends.
On rink three, Paul's mighty rink were always in control against Jim Lloyd. Whist all 4 agree that they were always in control against Jim Lloyd. Whilst all four agree that they were slightly relaxed and loose in their play, it was the good start from the front two that held stood in good stead. Even Dai Spencer felt lucky to be at Pendine for a sixth time that week when he enjoyed a near perfect first 10 ends.
Wigan's rink got off to an amazing start. Nineteen-nil up after eight ends, they only dropped seven shots over four ends all day. The senior members, Mac and Ben, ensured a good platform, with Ray Holly (senior) supporting the big fellow well. The afternoon almost turned sour for Andrew after the game and donations of needle and thread will be greatly appreciated.
All eyes were on Dave Morgan at the end. Knowing Saundersfoot had dropped two points against their fierce rivals St. Issell's the night before, it was important we left here with all 14 in the bag.
Dave was all-square on the last end when Budda nailed the jack. Bagpuss ensured a closer second and the Pendine back two were unable to cut down and Morg's rink finished a comfortable three shots ahead.

PEMBROKE DOCK 89
TENBY 85
It was a bad day at Black Dock for Tenby on Saturday as they went down to their second league defeat of the season.
On rink one it was Pat against the mighty Les Davies, a tough game by any standards, but with Lee and Paul in top form and Peter and Pat following up magnificently at the back it was another 30 shot plus for Pat's boys.
There was no comment at all this week from Andrew's rink on their performance. It must be because they went down 14-22 to Dave Burns.
Dai Newth had an excellent debut for Dave Morgan's rink and although being five shots down with two ends to play, they still managed to win by four shots.
Webbie was on top form for Paul's rink against Harry Hanger but with Pembroke Dock playing the better bowls on the day, a defeat was inevitable.
Rink scores (Tenby first, Pembroke Dock skips only):
L. Richards, P. Mearns, P. Day, P. Currie 33; L. Davies 19.
S. McNeilly, B. Owens, R. Holly, A. Muskett 14; D. Burns 22.
L. Guymer, I. Badham, N. Newth, D. Morgan 25; J. Williams 21.
D. Spencer, T. Preston, J. Webb, P. Diment 13; H. Hanger 27.
Tenby five arches
The Stena sponsored Five Arches played Haverfordwest at home last Saturday and in a keenly fought match lost to the high flying Harfat team by 14 shots (76-90). Up to the 15th end the game was very close but the visitors came on strongly at the end, especially the Roy Fairhurst rink who beat the Keith Hubbard foursome by 16 shots, collecting one count of eight early in the game.
The other Five Arches rinks gave commendable performances Mike Crockford losing out by one shot, Dave King Thomas by five and the captain's rink having a good result winning by eight shots.
All in all a good performance overall against a side challenging for the league title.
Next Tuesday evening the Five Arches play a re-arranged match against near neighbours Saundersfoot, away.
Scores (Haverfordwest skips only):
B. Russell, T. Powling, G. Beynon, R. Powling 27; Phil John 19.

M. Donoghue, C. Guymer, R. Hughes, M. Crockford 17; P. D. S. Jenkins 18.
B. Barnikel, J. Tyler, G. Hill, D. King-Thomas 14; T. Wilks 19.
