FRIDAY TRIPLES
Tenby Bowling Club chairman, Pauline Barnikel has bowled to success in the ladies Friday evening triples competition.
Pauline snatched victory on the final night of the Bowls R'Us league when it reached its conclusion on Friday.
The competition, now in its second year, proved to be a well contested affair throughout the season with several players vying for the first positions right up until the final night.
At the presentation ceremony that followed the games, Pauline was presented with the Bowls R'Us shield and a cash prize by Pat Currie and Paul Diment, of Bowls R'Us.
Second place went to Ceris Hewlings and Sandra Williams, while third was Phyllis Jones, who had been in first place going into the final night.
Fourth was league organiser, Alison Redman and fifth was Meryl Cooke, who just pipped last year's winner, Chris Morgan into the prize winning places.
The league table was very close and it was only shot difference that divided the second, third and fourth players who all had 18 points.
The booby prize was won by Kitty Bliss.
Thanks were extended by Alison to Bowls R'Us for their sponsorship and the players and subs for their support.
In response Pauline gave a vote of thanks to Alison for co-ordinating the league and she spoke for all involved when she said she hoped she would willing to run it again next year.
The evening concluded with a buffet which was enjoyed by all present.

CHALFONT ST GILES 121
On Friday, Tenby played host to Chalfont St Giles and the weather was good for them this time as they played Pembroke Dock on our green on Wednesday and it rained all afternoon.
The visitors were a very jolly team and the game was played in good spirit with the determination to win on both sides reflected in the scores of this closely fought contest.
The visiting captain, on behalf of his club, thanked Tenby for their most warm welcome on and off the green and hoped to return again.

HAPPY END TO
FRUSTRATING SEASON
After a disappointing summer caused by the proliferation of clashing club fixtures, the Thursday League season ended on a surprisingly optimistic note last week.
All day rain eased sufficiently for an enjoyable 'crown green' novelty match to be played before members adjourned to the clubhouse for the traditional social get-together and prize presentation.
A superb meal was prepared and served by one of the league's most enthusiastic members, Marnie Owen, before the season's prizes were presented.
Every member received a prize with the top award going to ebbulient Alan Rootes, who rarely missed a match during the 15-week programme.
Joint runners-up were Marnie Owens and Arthur Ormond with Dennis Watkins and Arthur Grimbaldston in close pursuit
The prizes were presented by league organiser Arthur Ormond, who was warmly thanked for his efforts in keeping the league alive under great difficulties by club secretary Bert Barnikel.
He said it has been an enjoyable season despite the diminished number and he was confident the 2002 season would be a better one.
