A team from Sir Thomas Picton School won a recent county-wide boccia contest. The Welsh Dragons beat their fellow Haverfordwest school colleagues Team Raw to win the 10th annual Pembrokeshire Adult Chevron Boccia Tournament. Based on boules, boccia was originally developed for cerebral palsy sufferers, but is now played by people of all abilities and disabilities. Sixteen teams competed in the tournament at the Milford Haven Leisure Centre last month. Group winners were Team Raw and 'Welsh Dragons' - both from Sir Thomas Picton School and The Speed Kings (Ysgol Bro Gwaun) and Young Vipers 2 (Young Voices for Choices). Welsh Dragons beat Young Vipers in the first semi- final, while Team Raw beat The Speed Kings in the second. The Welsh Dragons went on to win the final by eight points to four. After the hard-fought contest, Phil Thompson, of sponsors Chevron, presented the winners and runners-up with their medals.
