Carmarthen Ath. nil Whitland 8 pts.
Whitland remain two points clear at the top of Swalec Division One West after winning away at Carmarthen Athletic by eight points to nil.
Although the scoreline suggests a close match, the Borderers dominated all aspects of this local derby and should have scored more points, but it was an away win well deserved.
With a very strong wind blowing across the ground, it was not the best day for place-kicking, but fly-half Aled Davies, kicking from hand, always put the Athletic on the back foot and kept the Whitland pack going forward.
After 15 mintues, Davies hit the post with a penalty chance and it was late in the half before Whitland scored their only try of the game. After great work by the pack, punching holes and dragging in the defence, Aled Davies threw out a long pass to fullback James Stephenson, coming into the line; he drew the cover defence and winger Will Davis scored the try which went unconverted.
Again at the start of the second half, outside-half Davies hit the post with a penalty chance, while flanker Jack Mason went close after some great slip passes between the forwards and Will Davies was brought down just short after a great crosskick by Davies.
With these changes going begging,Whitland failed to hammer home their dominance, and it was left to Aled Davis to kick a penalty after 30 mintues to put the game safe and secure all four points.
