Whitland demolished Treorchy with a nine-try blitz last Saturday, crossing four times in the first half and five in the second.

The first came after 17 minutes when good lineout possession saw scrum-half Gareth Davies make a half break, before feeding the ball out along the line to centre Andrew Jenkins, who looped round after giving the pass to flanker Phil Morgan to create the overlap and send winger Andrew Richards over for the try.

Outside-half Scott Penny added the extras with a successful conversion.

Whitland's second try came some seven minutes later.

Following a scrum on their 10-metre line, scrum-half Davies again made a break with Jenkins in support, before fullback Gavin Morris finally went round three Treorchy players to touch down. Again Penny added the two points.

Four minutes later, after good driving forward play, the backs were again unleashed, Morris entering the line to create the overlap for Andrew Richards to touch down in the corner for his second try. This time it went unconverted.

Two minutes before the break, Whitland's other winger, Jack Tremlett, scored his first try of the afternoon.

When Treorchy kicked from defence, the ball was gathered by Gavin Morris, who broke from deep through the heart of the visiting defence, before passing to Tremlett who went over for the touchdown.

Again Penny added the conversion to leave the half-time score 26 points to nil.

Whitland started the second half strongly, and after six minutes, man-of-the-match Gareth Davies picked up the ball from the back of the scrum, took a step back and as he did so the defence in front of him opened up, his speed off the mark leaving all of Treorchy's defence flat-footed as he cantered in under the posts for the fifth try of the afternoon. Again Penny added the two points.

Three minutes later, Andrew Richards touched down for his hat-trick after a long pass by Andrew Jenkins and support play by Lee Glanville, again Penny adding the two points.

Sixteen minutes into the half, Gavin Morris scored his second try of the afternoon, after Scott Penny had brought the ball back to the blind-side from an attacking scrum. Finding his way barred, he threw a long pass to the open side, flanker Stuart Tirie let the ball bounce through his legs, winger Jack Tremlett kicked through and Morris gathered to touch down. Again Penny added the two points.

In the 69th minute, Tremlett went over for his second try after good work by Penny and Glanville. This time the score went unconverted.

Whitland rounded off the try blitz when skipper Phil Morgan found himself with a three to one overlap, but didn't need the other two, selling an outrageous dummy to go over for the final score of the game.

Again this was unconverted, to leave the full-time score Whitland 57 Treorchy 0.
