Whitland 18 pts. Felinfoel 12
Due to weather conditions and frozen pitches, this SWALEC National League Division One West clash, on Saturday, was Whitland's first game of the new year.
The weather also had a part to play in this match, however, with a gale force wind making life distinctly unpleasant.
Nevertheless, the Borderers put in a workmanlike performance to take all three points with an 18-12 victory.
An indication of the strength of the wind, meanwhile, was the fact that both sides scored all their points when playing with the elements in their favour, Whitland bagging their 18 in the first half and then showing great defence and discipline as Felinfoel struck back in the second period with their dozen.
No tries were scored, but the supporters of both teams saw an exciting, hard fought battle, which kept them interested for the whole match.
Whitland's outside-half, Carwyn Jones, kicked five penalties and fullback Will Davies dropped a goal to give the Borderers their valuable 18-point cushion at the interval.
In the second, Felinfoel's outside-half, Jason Davies, replied with three penalties - his third coming in the seventh minute of injury time to give the visitors a losing bonus point - while centre Chris Keenan dropped a goal to make up the 12 points.
Man-of-the-match was fly-half Carwyn Jones.

Loughor 2nds 10 pts. Whitland 2nds 31
Having not played for much of December and early January due to the weather, the Wanderers got back to playing rugby, on Saturday, and the lay-off did not show as they won this Carmarthen Tyre Services League match at Loughor with ease.
Three first half tries by outside-half Shane Morgan, two of which were converted by centre Kristian Richards, gave Whitland a 19 points to 10 lead at half-time.
In the second half, the Wanderers rounded off a good performance by scoring a further two tries through flanker Celt Thomas and centre Wayne Morris, with Kristian Richards adding a further conversion to leave the full-time score 31-10.
Whitland Youth 54 pts. Milford Haven nil
Whitland Youth warmed up for their eagerly-awaited Webb Ellis Welsh Cup match with Mumbles, with a comfortable home win over Milford Haven in the RAF Careers League.
They were in impressive form, piling up over a half century of points and scoring eight tries in the process.
In the first half, Whitland built up a commanding lead of 40 points to nil, with tries being scored by centre James Stephenson (3), number eight and skipper Mikey Jones, flanker James (Cubby) Davies and outside-half Jonathan Thomas, with Stephenson converting five of them.
The second half saw Whitland score two further tries through wingers Duncan Evans and Dafydd Williams, with fullback Scott Newton converting both to take them over the 50-point mark, before the referee had to bring the game to a halt.
