If you love trees, are a secret tree hugger or just enjoy getting up close and personal with our leafy friends, here's your chance to enjoy pure tree heaven.
According to 'tree surfer' Paul Poynter, you're never too old to climb a tree and he's out to prove the point at Picton Castle on Sunday, August 2, from 10.45 am.
A Pembrokeshire first, Family Tree Climbing is nothing to do with genealogy or adrenalin-pumping hi-wire acts. It's a gentle, recreational tree climb that can be tackled by just about anyone over five years old. There's nothing Paul would like more than to get three generations of a family up a tree at the same time - his oldest climbers have been in their 70s!
Strength and agility are not needed - all equipment is provided. Paul has four sets of equipment plus one with a winch that would suit a disabled person, providing a safe environment and loads of fun.
Tree climbing sessions will start at 10.45, 11.45, 1.45, 2.45 and 3.45. Only five people at a time and each session lasts an hour. The cost is £12.50 per person, including entry to gardens and gallery -and we recommend advance booking as places are so limited. Phone Picton Castle shop on 01437 751369, Tuesdays to Sundays between 11 am and 5 pm, to book.
