Tenby councillors are seeking to get bolder road markings laid down on the bus stop outside the Sainsbury's store, to deter illegal parking.
At Tuesday's meeting of the town council, Clr. Mike Thorne told his colleagues that he had witnessed serious traffic congestion in Upper Park Road recently when a service bus was forced to stop on the road due to illegally parked cars occupying the pull-in stop.
"Perhaps hatch lines indicating the bus stop would be a stronger move," said Clr. Thorne, suggesting that the council should write to Pembrokeshire County Council.
Clr. Mrs. Tish Rossiter felt that problems with narrow spaces on the ground floor level of the multi-storey car park put a lot of people off parking there.
"I complained about this situation a couple of years back and I experienced it again last week first-hand when someone parked alongside my car and I couldn't get out," she explained.
"The spaces are simply too narrow for most vehicles. If parking was made easier at the multi-storey, then people, and customers to Sainsbury's in particular, would be more encouraged to park there and not pull in by the bus stop," she added.
Deputy Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Julie Evans, agreed that the issue, along with others connected to the multi-storey, needed to be sorted out.
"We heard recently how the multi-storey made a huge profit last year, so why aren't the county council putting some money back into improving the facility," she said.
Councillors agreed to write to the county council, along with Sainsbury's, to see if they could work together in improving the parking issues
