A visit to this year's County Show resulted in the James family, of Priory Road, Milford Haven, winning an enjoyable boat trip around the Pembrokeshire Islands and along the Milford Haven Waterway to Llangwm on the Port Authority's pilot cutter 'Robert Hastie'.

Calling at the Port Authority's stand, the James family completed a Pembrokeshire Coastal Forum questionnaire designed to help the Forum identify concerns that the public may have about the way the Pembrokeshire coast is managed. The information gathered will form the basis of a Coastal Strategy to be produced in 2004.

The Pembrokeshire Coastal Forum is a partnership of individuals and organisations working together to achieve a sustainable approach to the planning, management, use and development of the Pembrokeshire coast and the waterway.

With Objective One support and hosted by the Milford Haven Port Authority, Coastal Forum officer Tonia Forsyth and assistant Fay Williams have commenced the process of developing the work of the Forum - working initially to devise a mechanism for two-way communication with all who have an interest, to ensure their involvement in the whole process.

Speaking about the process, Tonia Forsyth said: "Members of the public have an important part to play and the County Show presence provided an opportunity to get a wide ranging public input. We are grateful to the Port Authority for donating the prize and for their overall support."
