With another storm (this time named Storm Francis) and high winds due tomorrow (Tuesday, August 25), with high tide at approximately 11.30 am, Tenby’s harbourmaster has urged all boat owners to check their mooring holders prior to any severe weather that may be forecast to prevent vessels breaking free.
Early last Friday morning (August 21) a number of boats broke from their moorings in the harbour due to the impact of Storm Ellen and high tide.
Harbourmaster Chris Salisbury and his assistant Jack Oliver were in attendance and ensured that the situation was resolved safely.
Boat owners have expressed appreciation for the recovery of their vessels which was ‘just part of the service’ according to Chris.
Jack was also in attendance for the high tide on Friday evening to ensure prompt action should any problems arise.
“With more stormy conditions predicted we would ask all mooring holders to check over their moorings prior to any severe weather that may be forecast to prevent vessels breaking free - although given the conditions last week this could have happened to any well maintained mooring,” said Chris.
