Templeton licensees John and Sian Kent have been shortlisted for a top national award - beating off competition from around 2,500 pubs across the country.
John and Sian, who run the Boars Head, have reached the last six in at least one of the 12 categories of the Marston's Pub Company 2007 Awards.
"We were absolutely thrilled to hear the news. We have worked very hard during the last 12 months to deliver the very best service and this result is a clear sign that we are getting it right," said Sian, who co-runs the pub.
The prestigious awards - now in their sixth year - recognise talented licensees across a range of different categories, with gold winners scooping a cash prize, plaque for outside their pub and gold certificate.
Awards include Cask Ale Pub, Family Pub, Community Pub, Bar Person, Chef, Pub Food, Customer Experience, Newcomer, Wine Retailer, Socially Responsible Retailer and Best Refurbishment project. The coveted Pub of the Year title is awarded to the pub that is judged to represent the company's very best operation.
John and Sian have been invited to the glittering awards ceremony to be held at Alton Towers Stateroom on October 11 where compere, the Sky Sports and ITV commentator Gary Newbon, will announce the results.
