One of Pembrokeshire’s biggest holiday park resorts has announced that it will re-open to guests at the end of next month.
Bluestone National Park Resort has set a date of July 24 to welcome people back, after Wales’ First Minister alerted the tourism industry last Friday to start preparations to reopen if the spread of the virus continues to decline, with a date of July 13 pencilled in as a possible ‘re-start’ for the industry.
During the lockdown Bluestone joined a local, regional, and national effort to do everything possible to prepare for the unfolding outbreak - by becoming a Recovery Centre for patients in Pembrokeshire, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the wake of the ongoing public health emergency, part of Bluestone’s extensive facilities, as well as open spaces, were utilised to help treat those in need and those recovering from the virus, providing a significant addition to the resources and facilities of Hywel Dda University Health Board.
“After the Welsh Government’s press briefing on Friday, we are very excited that we are moving closer to opening our resort to guests once again,” said a spokesperson for Bluestone.
“The safety of our guests and staff continues to be our key priority throughout all our planning and preparation. We therefore want to make sure that we open in the right way, at the right time.
“After considering all of the options, we have made the decision to set our reopening date - subject to final confirmation from the Welsh Government - as Friday, July 24. This slightly extended closure period will allow additional time to prepare, to ensure that the resort is ready to welcome you.
“We completely understand that you are all keen to know what your upcoming holiday at Bluestone will look like.
“As Government guidelines are still being released, we are keeping everything under constant review to ensure that Bluestone continues to be a place where loved ones reconnect, where people smile, laugh and enjoy free-range fun in natural open spaces.”
Bluestone have stated that it is likely that a ‘phased reopening’ will be in place, starting with accommodation and some facilities.
“As you will be aware, the original adventure centre is no longer available as it has been closed to help the local Health Board as a field hospital.
“The site is currently hibernating and you can be assured that the area of the resort will be appropriately sectioned off and will not impact on the wider resort, or your break at Bluestone,” they continued.
“Our overriding intention is to reopen as many facilities as possible in line with all legislation and guidance. We will keep this under constant consideration and will be announcing more details on our plans on a weekly basis, starting with today.
“You can rest assured that this will include some new ideas and concepts including in lodge food delivery, additional open areas and activities available within our 500-acre resort.”
