Employees from one of Pembrokeshire’s leading tourism providers are helping nurture local entrepreneurs and employees of the future at a primary school.

Staff from Bluestone National Park Resort, near Narberth, have partnered with 2B Enterprising Ltd which aims to develop young people’s enterprising skills through fun and engaging lessons involving businesses and teachers.

They recently took part in their first session, attending Templeton Primary School in Narberth as part of a Corporate Engagement Partnership Programme on The Bumbles of Honeywood programme.

Helen John of the Bluestone Academy said it was important for young people to learn, in a fun way, enterprising skills at an early age. The programme uses a series of beautifully illustrated books entitled The Bumbles of Honeywood, as the basis for its work.

“Our teamwork in a wide variety of roles at Bluestone, from front of house and food and beverage to activities and sales. By bringing their experience into the classroom, children can easily learn about the world of enterprise in a way that’s relevant to them,” said Helen.

“The Corporate Engagement Partnership Programme has developed a format that works very well and combined with our team’s experiences and enthusiasm it’s a great way to transfer that knowledge in a way that young people can understand.”

Jayne Brewer, CEO of 2B Enterprising, said it was important for local businesses to engage with schools and young people.

“The Corporate Engagement Partnership Programme works in two ways. It helps children and young people to grasp enterprise awareness and skills at an early age which helps them develop their knowledge for years to come. It also means children understand the positive impact local business have on their community.

“We’re pleased Bluestone has joined the programme as it shows young people what opportunities are available on their doorstep. As they develop their education and knowledge over the years, they’ll have had a good grounding for business and enterprise skills.”
