A BLUEGRASS Brunch with 'The Scoundrels' is taking place at Tenby's Fourcroft Hotel this Sunday.

'The Scoundrels' is an accomplished and exciting acoustic duo formed by experienced musicians James Crisp and Carl Beddis, who play the sort of music recently brought to international acclaim by the hit movie 'O Brother Where Art Thou' - a fun filled mix of country blues, old timey music, Bluegrass and sheer unadulterated down home, good time grooves.

James, percussion, stringed and wind instruments, vocals, gained early experience working on Peter Gabriel's acclaimed 'So' album and with power pop chartsters 'The Korgis' and, since relocating to West Wales, has become well respected for his work in a variety of musical fields, from the ground breaking roots duo 'The Golden Cat' (winner of Best Live Act at the West Wales Music Awards) to his compelling soundtrack for the Torch Theatre, Milford Haven's award winning production of 'One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest.'

James continues this ground breaking work on other film, TV, and theatre soundtracks and, after signing with EMI Publishing, has recently beaten off stiff competition to secure long term commissions from S4C.

Carl, vocals and double bass, has long been a mainstay on the Pembrokeshire music scene, having contributed his inimitable brand of humour, songwriting, melody and rhythm to such band as neorockabilly trio 'The Boneshakers' and nutty boys 'The Bush Street Blues Band'.

Together James and Carl are 'The Scoundrels', their exciting combination of self-penned tunes and well chosen covers, dealing with the classic bittersweet themes of love, loss, loneliness, longing and other things perhaps not beginning with 'I,' is an uplifting experience.

With a new single out shortly, an album planned for later in the year, and festival appearances lined up, this is an opportunity to catch 'The Scoundrels' playing on their home turf before the international acclaim they so richly deserve comes to fruition. Either that, or it'll be a manager's stray boot in their faces. Whatever, everyone will have had a good time in the process.

'The Scoundrels' will be playing at the Fourcroft Hotel on Sunday from 12 noon until 3 pm.

Tickets cost £12, to include Brunch, and to book your seat call (01834) 842886.
