THE Nashville-based bluegrass band, Valerie Smith and Liberty Pike, featuring award-winning singer- songwriter and fiddler Becky Buller will be touring the UK, Ireland and Germany in July and August. The band's one performance in Wales will be held at the Queens Hall in Narberth, on Monday, July 28, at 8 pm. Having entertained music lovers across the US, Canada, the UK and throughout Europe, the sound of Valerie Smith and Liberty Pike draws in audiences across genres as they flawlessly encompass America, bluegrass, country, blues and swing. This is a rare opportunity for Pembrokeshire bluegrass and country music fans to experience one of the most exciting and innovative bands on the international scene. The recipient of awards from the International Bluegrass Music Association, Valerie Smith has appeared on the Grand Ole Opry and her music has endeared her to thousands of fans across the world. The five-piece Nashville-based band also features award-winning singer/songwriter Becky Buller, whose songs have been recorded by numerous top American bluegrass bands, including Rhonda Vincent and Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver. All proceeds from this concert will go to the Transatlantic Bluegrass Scholarship Program which provides free tuition to young bluegrass musicians 16-25 at the annual Transatlantic Bluegrass School held in Newport, Pembrokeshire in May.
