The National Trust has issued a warning to people over blue-green algae at a Pembrokeshire beauty spot that can prove fatal to animals.

“The water at Stackpole Lakes contains blue-green algae, which can cause stomach upsets, skin rashes, eye irritation, fever and muscular pain,” posted the National Trust on Facebook this month.

“It can be fatal to pets. Please protect yourself and your pets by staying away from the algae and keeping out of the water.”
