WHEN Ronald and Jean Skidmore received an orchid as an anniversary present about a year ago, little did they expect the flower to bloom as it did. "Twelve months ago, it only had about three of four flowers on it, but once I saw it start to develop I made a real effort to take care of it," said Mr. Skidmore. "I have kept it in my conservatory and have been using miracle grow, and now at the moment it has an incredible 34 flowers on it," said Mr. Skidmore who admits to being a novice when it comes to having green fingers. The couple who live at Vineyard Vale in Saundersfoot are constantly told by their friends that an orchid with so many flowers on it is quite rare. "We have no end of admirers who have told us that the orchid looks fantastic," said Mr. Skidmore.
