Inspirational floral efforts in the seaside village of Saundersfoot during the pandemic have been recognised by the Royal Horticultural Society.
Saundersfoot Community Council and Volunteers from Saundersfoot in Bloom and Saundersfoot Community Council have been praised for their hard work during the Covid-19 crisis by the organisation that runs Britain in Bloom, which had to cancel its annual contest due to the pandemic, and presented with certificates to recognise the important work they have undertaken to make the area ‘stronger, greener and happier’.
“This year an amazing sense of community spirit has enabled people to face the difficulties of this dreadful pandemic together; and through Bloom, It’s Your Neighbourhood, and other community gardening activities, you have laid the strong foundations that helped make your communities more resilient in these testing times,” said RHS community development manager Kay Clark in correspondence sent to the Saundersfoot organisations.
“We know that people have felt closer to nature through lockdown and valued access to green space so much more, and we have heard that people are valuing your work more than ever before.”
The organisations were presented with certificates for ‘inspiring others’ and recognition.
Clr. Martyn Williams commented: “The village’s Sensory Garden has provided a beautiful floral haven of peace and tranquility for locals and holidaymakers during the pandemic.”
