The community council of St. Mary Out Liberty have continued with their planned programme of daffodil planting in and around the ward. In previous years, daffodils have been set throughout the village of New Hedges and along the bypass towards Waterwynch.
This year, the planting carried out by community council chairman Clr. Des Brace and Clr. Howard Rawson-Humphries, ably assisted by County Clr. Jonathan Preston, has extended down Rushy Lake, with a second working party planned to ensure an impressive display next spring.
Clr. Preston remarked: “This is a relatively low cost and impressive way to bring colour to the area early in the New Year. I am pleased that we have plans to extend this work into other parts of the ward, including Penally and Gumfreston. Thank you to councillors who have donated bulbs and their spare time for this year’s planting.”
