There's something for everyone in the local events organised for Wales Biodiversity Week, which begins on Tuesday June 17.

Enjoy spectacular views of seabirds, spot porpoises off Strumble Head and even find out what a mermaid keeps in her purse! There are visits to inland habitats, marshes and ancient woodland, a search for hidden churchyard treasures and tales of invasive species in the Galapagos Islands.

Children are invited to discover, using a special kit, what lives around them during 'Backyard Biodiversity Day'. There is also a competition for nine-12-year-olds to design a logo for Pembrokeshire Biodiversity Partnership.

The week aims to give as many people as possible access to the wildlife on their doorstep in Wales through a variety of local biodiversity activities and events.
