The chairman of Tenby in Bloom has urged locals to brighten up the town and get behind the forthcoming floral events in which the resort is competing this summer.
Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane, who is also chairman of the floral organisation, told her colleagues at Tuesday night's meeting of the town council that she wanted to see a big effort made by everyone in Tenby in preparation for the annual Bloom event, the Britain in Bloom event, for which judging takes place on Wednesday, August 3, (between 9.30 am and 12.30 pm), and the Wales in Bloom contest, when judges will be in town some time between June 27 and July 1.
Tenby picked up the best 'small country town' crown for the 26th time in the Wales in Bloom event last year, and is being put forward again this year to compete in the Britain in Bloom awards.
"We were only a couple of points off gold last year, so it's time for the town to put it's best foot forward again and show them what we can do," said Clr. Mrs. Lane.
"The pubs, restaurants and hotels always give their full support with their window box and hanging basket displays, so it would be nice if other traders in the town could come on board and make a huge effort too.
"These events are really important for the town and the county and it's a great accolade for Tenby to be involved with the Britain in Bloom event too.
"The BBC will also be in town filming over the judging period, so it would be nice to show off Tenby's floral credentials in all their glory," she added.
