Tenby is sure to be brightened up today (Friday) as it hosts the annual Wales in Bloom awards ceremony.
Tenby Town Council and Pembrokeshire County Council will be hosting the prestigious awards at the town's De Valence Pavilion in Upper Frog Street, with the Mayor of Tenby, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane, who is also chairman of the Tenby in Bloom committee, presenting the awards to the recipients.
Tenby itself has once again enjoyed success in this year's competition, retaining its title as best 'small country town' - the 25th time the resort has taken the crown.
"Tenby is a charming, colourful seaside town that is a tourism magnet for visitors, who contribute greatly to the area's economy and well-being," said Wales in Bloom judge, Ivor Stokes, after this year's visit to the town. "This is reflected by the support, in both financial and manpower terms, that is given by the county council to assist the Tenby in Bloom team in maintaining and developing the wonderful floral displays throughout the town,.
"It is always a delight to visit and see the commitment and involvement of the town's people in making Tenby the jewel in Pembrokeshire's crown," he added.
The chairman of Pembrokeshire County Council, Clr. Mrs. Anne Hughes, will also be present at the ceremony, along with the Wales in Bloom chairman, Mr. John Wood.
The awards ceremony will take place from 11 am onwards.
