Visitors to this year's Haverfordwest Beer Festival may think they are seeing things before they have even touched a drop!
Joining the star attractions - 30 different types of beers and ciders - will be a blast from the past... the fuselage of a World War II Spitfire. It will welcome people to the festival which is in its second year. The event takes place at Haverfordwest Castle on Saturday, July 26, from 11 am to 6 pm, and Sunday, July 27, from 11 am - 4 pm.
Richard Blacklaw-Jones, chairman of the event, explained: "All the beers and ciders at the festival will be from Wales, with a few from Pembrokeshire. Most are not available locally and this is a great opportunity for people to taste them without having to travel too far."
Beer connoisseurs can pass their own judgements on what they have drunk by filling in their comments on a special Beer Festival programme. Providing an extra fizz is the home-brew competition. Those who feel their own special bitter, lager or stout can beat the best, can put it to the test before a panel of distinguished judges. Potential entrants can contact Alan Buckfield on 01437 768092 for competition details.
And to make sure there is something for all the family, there will be entertainment and music, a food stall offering local produce and vegetarian items, the Haverfordwest Fairtrade Campaign with soft drinks and coffees, and a CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) stall with a range of memorabilia and goods.
Said Alan Buckfield: "We have learned a lot from last year and we again hope to produce a wonderful weekend of enjoyment for all."
