National Trust Colby Woodland garden is regarded as a special place for wildlife and next week sees the start of Biodiversity Week. Running from June 7 to the 15, Wales Biodiversity Week hopes to promote some of the wonderful and unique wildlife we have in Wales. Everyone has a role to play to protect and celebrate our biodiversity through activities as an organisation, business or as an individual. At Colby visitors will have the chance to see just how special it is, with some informal guided short walks around the meadow and woodland area. There will be chance to look at the habitat creation projects within the garden and find out about new developments. Biodiversity is fundamental to the physical, economic and spiritual well-being of all who live and work in Pembrokeshire. The walks will be on June 7, 9, 11, 13 and 15 at 2 pm and booking is advisable. On June 11 there will be a very special walk guided by Claire Flynn (pictured) of EcoEdventures, who has delivered fun educational learning experiences at Colby for several years. Claire is currently carrying out a bumble bee transect study in the meadow area and these studies organised by the Bee Conservation Trust are open to anyone. Claire hopes to focus her walk on the wildflowers, wildlife and pollinators at Colby http://bumblebeeconservation.org/">http://bumblebeeconservation.org/. Booking is advisable so to reserve a place, please phone 811885.
