Saundersfoot Sea Angling Club held their annual dinner and presentation evening at Dragon Palace Restaurant, Pentlepoir, last Saturday.

A great evening was had by all, and congratulations go to outgoing chairman George Barritt for making his maiden (and final) speech before welcoming incoming chairman Tony Ormond.

The club was also pleased to welcome many of its sponsors to the evening, all of whom have helped in the success of Saundersfoot Sea Angling Club.

Over 70 members, guests and friends attended, all of whom enjoyed the warm hospitality and delicious multi-course Chinese food at Dragon Palace, where the service and venue were perfect for the largest turnout ever.

Forthcoming matches include the following:

Sunday, January 30 - Six-hour two-rod rover. Sign on at Saundersfoot Sports Club 8.15 - 8.30 am, fishing 9.30 am - 3.30 pm. Weigh in at The Chemist Inn no later than 4.45 pm.

SSAC matches from February are back to one rod.

Sunday, February 6 - Freshwater East beach. Sign on at Freshwater East car park by 3.30 pm latest, fishing 4 - 9 pm. Weigh-in at the car park after the match.

Sunday, February 20 - Pendine beach, sponsored by The Mulberry. Sign on at Pendine car park by 1 pm, fishing 1.30 - 6.30 pm. Weigh-in at The Mulberry, Saundersfoot, by 7.30 pm.

A reminder is given that all rovers must be fished in pairs or more, and be especially careful on rock marks. Those of you on Facebook or similar sites, it is common knowledge that once a productive mark is mentioned, it will get wiped out within hours.

Club meetings are held at the Sports Club on the first Wednesday of every month at 8 pm. Next meeting is on February 2. All welcome.

A further gentle reminder is given concerning club rules. Only juniors are allowed help to cast. All full members, i.e.16 years and above, male and female, must cast for themselves to avoid obtaining an unfair advantage, unless a disability prevents it.

Also don't forget, 2011 fees are now due - but are held at 2010 costs. Please pay your subscription prior to fishing your first match, and a request from the match secretary - please bring correct monies to matches!

Following the annual general meeting held in December, please note that for all SSAC matches, the minimum size at the scales for flounder has been increased to 32cm. Please do not bring under-sized fish to the scales and release alive as many fish as possible.
