It was a return to the place where they were born for over 50 people who gathered outside the old Tenby Cottage Hospital on Saturday for a photographic reunion. Town councillor Mrs. Sue Lane (nee Attewell), who was born at the hospital in 1951, was delighted that so many people were able to make it for the photo-call she had organised before the building's closure. "It's absolutely brilliant to see so many people, and all of them living locally" she said. "We've enjoyed the get-together so much, that we might even start a born in Tenby Cottage Hospital society." Tenby Cottage Hospital opened in the 1880s, with the last official delivery being made at the building's maternity unit back in 1962, when 'Ginger' Beynon was born at 6.30 pm, on May 31, and delivered by Matron Doris Williams. However, the last emergency delivery at the old Cottage Hospital came on the morning of September 23, 1991, at around 6 am, when Frank and Teresa Miller made the crossing from Caldey Island in their own boat, and their youngest son Jonathan was born. "My wife Teresa, a staff nurse at Tenby Cottage Hospital, still remembers the experience vividly," said Frank. "Mother and baby were soon allowed to the comfort of my wife's mother's home at around 7 am, just a few metres away in Church Park," he added.
