There's big news this week from the organisers of Narberth Civic Week.
A top prize of £1,000 is up for grabs at this year's event for the best overall float.
"Here in Narberth we have held Civic Week for over 30 years and have had a carnival for over 100 years," explained chairman, Clr. Mrs. Elizabeth Rogers.
"Civic Week is a week filled with fun events for all the family and is held the last whole week in July. As with everything, numbers are on the decline, so we have decided to put up £1,000 as the prize for the best float overall for this year's carnival on July 25."
The money has been raised through sponsorship from local business etc.
Added Clr. Mrs. Rogers: "We have also increased all float prizes in the hope of encouraging lots of floats. We used to have over 7,000 people watching the carnivals in previous years, so our plan is to get more people involved."
There will be a first prize of £100, £50 second and £30 third prize for the best large float, best small float, best visiting float, and best pub/club.
This year, the pram push - a race around the pubs of the town, downing a drink at each pub and pushing one member of the team in a pram - is also making a comeback.
This will be followed by a Pink Pong ball race run by the Narberth and Whitland Round Table.
