Saundersfoot’s businesses are getting into the Hallowe’en spirit as they play their part in the village’s Big ‘Double’ Bang weekend.
The popular event taking place today (Friday) and tomorrow, features all the fun and festivities of Hallowe’en and Bonfire Night.
A new addition this year is the Fangtastic Hallowe’en Window Display competition for business premises, which has had a huge response.
No fewer than 18 different windows have been decked out in seasonal style to add to the atmosphere of the weekend.
All the businesses are members of Saundersfoot Chamber for Tourism, which organises the weekend.
Said chamber vice-chairman Michael Slade: “The decorated windows really add to the vibe of the whole event.
“The enthusiasm in the village for the weekend is really great, even more so than usual. It could be that the excellent summer has put everyone in good spirits!”
Running throughout the event is the Spooky Bat Trail, with cuddly bats hiding in 31 different windows in the village, and the funfair on the harbour car park.
Tonight’s Trick or Treat Trail – organised by the Wiseman’s Bridge Rowing Club – is from 6.30 pm, followed by a fancy dress competition and disco at the Regency Hall from 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm. Tickets, at £3, will be on sale at the entrance to Saundersfoot Sports Club.
There are some great prizes – including tickets to local attractions – in the pumpkin carving competition, open to all ages. There are free goody bags for all pumpkin competition entrants.
Results of all competitions will be announced at Dilys Photography Gallery at 5.30 pm tomorrow (Saturday), as excitement mounts for the evening’s free fireworks displays over the harbour.
The Little Bang takes place at 6.30 pm, with the main event, the Big Bang, at 8 pm.
