Sir,

May we, through your newspaper please, alert the general public to the danger of blue slug bait to animals, especially puppies and dogs, and also to say a very big thank you to Tenby Vets based on the Marsh Road, Tenby, for saving the life of our pet.

We have two lovely mongrel eight-month-old puppies who are as mischievous as any puppy can be.

Forgetting that there was an unopened container of blue slug bait somewhere in the conservatory, it slipped down between the sofa and the washing machine, only to be found early one morning by one of the puppies when she was just waking up and feeling hungry and bored.

She managed to bite through the childproof top and tasted the contents. (Apparently they are sweet and pleasant to a dog's taste) so, had she not been disturbed, she would have continued to enjoy the rest of the container.

We rushed her to Tenby Vets who, as far as we are concerned, performed a miracle. She received wonderful attention, we were kept fully informed and, against all odds, after a fretful day and night, we were able to collect her next morning.

She was very weak and wobbly, but she was alive. Her sister from whom she had never been parted had missed her dreadfully and was gentle and patient with her, sensing that something bad had happened.

We were unaware of the danger of the blue slug bait and hope, that, if we can only save one more life by alerting the public to its danger, then we shall be pleased.

D. and M. Rowen,

No.1 The Rise,

Redberth.
