Residents of Pembrokeshire are being warned against buying expensive copies of birth, death or marriage certificates via the internet.
A number of websites offer users the chance to purchase copies of certificates with prices ranging from £19 to £60.
However, a certificate from Pembrokeshire County Council's registration service, if that's where the event was registered, will only cost you the statutory fee of £7.
"There is no reason why people should be paying extra for this service," said Clr. David Simpson, the council's cabinet member for housing and regulatory business.
"Obtaining a copy of a birth, marriage, or death certificate through Pembrokeshire County Council is straightforward and cheaper, and I would encourage people not to waste their money."
