Preparations for the Saundersfoot New Year's Day Swim continue to gather pace, with the launch of the swim's own beer, 'Chilly Pecker', courtesy of Felinfoel Brewery.

Throughout the festive period, local landlords and their staff will serve the brew, which is aimed to quench the thirst of all revellers.

The swim logo will be seen on the pumps and the beer will be on sale from today (Friday).

It's 4.3 per cent, malty and suitably hot! Deep and rich in colour and long and smooth on the palate. It was created with a blend of the finest malt and hops and pure Welsh spring water.

Saundersfoot Festivities chairman, Martyn Williams said: "Chilly Pecker will continue to raise the profile of the swim and we thank Felinfoel Brewery and the landlords for their support in this enterprise."

Added Jamie Owen, area manager for Felinfoel Brewery: "We were the first Welsh brewery to win the prestigious Brewer's Cup and are probably the first brewery to provide a charity swim beer.

"We are delighted to support such a fantastic event and sincerely hope that the beer will help boost the coffers."

Chilly Pecker will be on sale at The Old Chemist Inn, The Royal Oak, and the Monkstone and KooKa-Ba Restaurants.

In addition to this, the swim will have their own beer mats. County Financial Consultants have sponsored 3,000 beer mats, which will be used in the local pubs.

Martyn continued: "We have been overwhelmed at the generosity displayed by local companies wishing to help support the swim and County Financial Consultants are the latest to do this and I thank Ian and Tony for their support.

"I also thank Tony for promising to make his debut in the Silver Swim!"

Tony added: "It's the least I can do when you consider Gethin (Evans) will be making his 25th appearance."

The 2009 'Silver' Swim will be celebrating its 25th year.
