Wheelchair users can now get right onto the beach at Whitesands thanks to funding from the Welsh Assembly Government. The money was given to the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority as part of a grant to improve access in the Park. The new wheelchairs have extra large low pressure tyres that don't sink into the sand, so now users can get right down to the waterline. Two wheelchairs are available at Whitesands, thanks to a partnership between the National Park Authority and a local business, Whitesands Sunlounger Hire. The wheelchairs can be hired for £3 per day. Six more beach wheelchairs are operating elsewhere in the National Park. For further information, contact Whitesands Sunlounger Hire on 01437 720692 or Karin Morgan at the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority.

National Park Authority member Clr. John George presents one of the wheelchairs to Mrs. Rhian Thompson, of Whitesands Sunlounger Hire.
