When Cathy Lloyd and her partner Mathew Adams went for a stroll on one of their favourite beaches on one of the hottest days of the year, little did Cathy think that she would be faced with a beach proposal of marriage.
But that’s exactly what Mathew did last Wednesday evening.
Mathew had spent four hours carving a message in the Barafundle Bay sand asking Cathy to marry him.
The couple both work at Valero, Pembroke Oil Refinery, where Cathy is a nurse and Mathew is an instrument technician.
“I saw the writing and turned around with excitement to see him on one knee asking me to marry him!” she said.
“I felt over the moon and completely over whelmed. The first time I met him my heart whispered to me that he’s the one. My son Harry (three-years-old) is absolutely delighted we are getting married and he’s gaining such a wonderful stepdad.”
Said Mathew:?“I wanted to do something special for Cathy to show her how much she means to me as I knew from our first date that she was definitely the one, we completely hit it off I came up with the idea as we had a BBQ together on Barafundle Bay on our first date so it’s special to us!
“I love Cathy and Harry both so much and I can’t wait for our future together as a family.”
