While they felt it would be a shame to lose a place to shelter, members of Tenby Town Council have offered no objections to a proposal to install doors and a floor at the arches on the town's North Beach.
Considering the application, for recommendation to the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority, members heard at their meeting on Tuesday night that Pembrokeshire County Council were proposing the doors to secure the arch areas and create a working space.
Both Clr. Mrs. Kerri Durham and Clr. Mrs. Maureen Ward felt that it would be a shame to enclose the arches as it was where people on the beach tended to shelter from sudden downpours.
"Especially as they seem to be taking down the other shelters on the North Beach," added Clr. Mrs. Ward.
However, Clr. Mickey Folland could not see any harm in the application.
"This is for security reasons and I'm happy to go along with it," he said.
Other applications considered included:
Mr. and Mrs. Hill, 34 The Clicketts, Tenby - Garage (no objection).
Mr. and Mrs. Slack, 41 The Clicketts, Tenby - Extension (no objection).
