Welsh charity, Bobath Children’s Therapy Centre Wales, is encouraging everyone to get involved in Bake for Bobath 2018 and help raise money for children with cerebral palsy.

Bobath Children’s Therapy Centre Wales provides specialist therapy and treatment to children across Wales living with cerebral palsy. The charity not only supports the children but gives families advice and help if they need it.

Cerebral palsy is one of the most common disabilities in children and affects an estimated 1,800 children in Wales. It is a permanent condition that affects posture and movement as a result of brain damage which has occurred during pregnancy, around the time of birth or within the first two years after birth.

This year, Bake for Bobath is sponsored by Slater and Gordon, a UK law firm. Julia Reynolds, Principal Lawyer, is supporting the children’s charity and encouraging everyone to get baking: “Slater and Gordon are delighted to be supporting Bobath Wales with this fantastic fundraising campaign. Through our clinical negligence practice we are very aware of the life-changing impact that a cerebral palsy diagnosis has on the whole family; but also the incredible, positive difference that receiving treatment and support at Bobath Wales can have on improving a child’s quality of life.”

Last year, the charity raised £1.2m, with 76% of donations coming from the public. Therefore getting people involved in a campaign like this is really important.

Emily Anthony, Events Co-Ordinator at Bobath Wales, would like as many people as possible to get involved with the campaign. “Bake for Bobath is a fun way to raise some dough so we can help more children in Wales with cerebral palsy. Whether you’re a baking beginner or the next Bake Off champ, we’d love for you to get involved. Holding a bake sale at school, work or your local club is also a great way to get involved this March.”
