Winners of BBC Two’s The Naked Choir with Gareth Malone, The Sons of Pitches will be headlining at this year’s Narberth A Cappella Voice Festival on Saturday, February 20.

Festival organisers, Span Arts, are thrilled to announce the ‘Sons’ will perform alongside spectacular Welsh folk duo Fynnon and mixed age ensemble Cor Pawb Bach at the Queen’s Hall, Narberth, as part of Wales’ only a cappella festival.

The multi-award winning British vocal group combines soaring solos, impeccable harmonies and sensational beatboxing to stunning effect, often leaving their audiences speechless.

Since their creation in 2010, they have captivated audiences with their highly creative vocal capacity, offering a programme of inventive pop covers, original numbers and entertaining improvised songs.

It is this level of impressive a cappella ability that saw them crowned winners of Gareth Malone’s ‘The Naked Choir’ in October 2015.

Since the show, they have acquired over one million YouTube hits and a growing international reputation to match, and have “given a cappella a kick up the backside” (ThreeWeeks).

Gareth Malone’s a cappella voice competition ‘The Naked Choir’ has helped to raise the profile and popularity of a cappella significantly, among both British and international audiences.

For Pembrokeshire-based arts charity, Span Arts, having the 2015 winners as the headlining act at this year’s festival has increased the anticipation amongst local a cappella fanatics, and tickets are already selling well.

Alongside spectacular concert performances, The Sons of Pitches deliver hugely valuable vocal workshops, including future collaboration with the Royal Opera House. Festival participants can enjoy a workshop from 10 am on Sunday, February 21, at the new Castle School premises at Sodston, just north of Narberth across the A40.

Having toured across the UK, USA and Asia, their headline performances have included the NEC Birmingham, Vale Fest and the Hong Kong International A Cappella Festival, alongside a sell-out debut run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

The Sons of Pitches will be supported on Saturday, February 20, by a Welsh folk duo from the group Fynnon, featuring singers Lynne Denman and Stacey Blythe, whose music sits deeply rooted in the traditions and landscapes of the British Isles.

Cor Pawb Bach will open the evening, featuring members from the 150-strong mass community choir brought together by Span Arts’ Cheerful Project.
