THIS year's Pembroke Festival is on August 31, for four days, plus all fringe events going on until September 9. First night of the festival is The Battle of the Bands in the castle, so the musical co-ordinator is looking for 'demos' to be sent to the Pembroke Festival Office, Eastgate Centre, Eastgate Square, Pembroke (01646 680 090). The only rule is that the average age of the band must not exceed 21 years. Prizes this year will include a day's recording at a studio, and a live gig on Radio Pembrokeshire. Six bands will be chosen for the 'battle', with prizes for first, second and third places. Another big band will be on stage that night too.
