AN angler from Cwmbran made the news this week, after missing out on becoming a record-breaker, when he ate a mammoth catch he made in Tenby... before weighing it!
Kurt Price was on a weekend fishing trip in the resort with his friend Kevin Lowcher, when he reeled in a monster bass, but never thought it was big enough to be a record.
It was only after he had filleted, cooked and eaten it, that research he carried out on the internet made him realise that the catch could have been the biggest of its kind.
The current record for a shore-caught bass is 19lbs 11oz and many fishing experts who have seen the photo of Kurt's catch, believe his was easily bigger than 20lbs, but the landscape gardener can never be credited with the title because he failed to weigh the fish at the time... and of course ate the evidence!
